How do I initiate a SWIFT payment from my Viably Global Account?

This article outlines the steps required to make a SWIFT payment from your Viably Global Account, including how to set a beneficiary.

Within your Viably Global Account there are several options for moving money, including SWIFT payments for international and domestic transactions. Once you've logged into your account you'll need to click the "Pay someone" button in the top right hand corner or the "Payments" left menu to get started.

From there, you'll be asked if you are paying a new or listed beneficiary. 

Adding a Beneficiary

  1. Click "Pay someone new." 
  2. Label the recipient as a business or individual. In most cases this will be a business, however if you're utilizing individual contractors or freelancers for your business you may need to pay an individual. 
  3. Select the country in which your recipient's bank is located. 
  4. Depending on which country you select various options for payment with populate, including SWIFT payments for international transfers. Fill out the required information (including account name, account number, routing number, SWIFT code, etc).
  5. Select the currency in which your recipient will receive payment.*
  6. Click Save. 

NOTE: If you select SWIFT payments you will be required to pay in USD, as opposed to the local currency options.

Once you've saved a new beneficiary you'll be returned to the Payments page where all possible payment beneficiaries are listed. 

Initiating SWIFT Payment

  1. Select the beneficiary that you want to pay. 
  2. Insert the amount that you'd like to pay them. Remember SWIFT Payments take place in exclusively USD and you will not be able to change the transfer method after setting up the beneficiary. If you need to make a payment with a different transfer method or in a different currency you'll need to create a new beneficiary. 
  3. Label the category of the expense for expense management purposes. 
  4. Write a memo or note for personal bookkeeping purposes. 
  5. Click the "Next" button and confirm transaction before it sends. 

SWIFT Payments can take as long as 3 days to be completed, so be sure to wait the recommended amount of time before reaching out for support.
